Many times when women try to "fix" men in the relationship, by criticizing him or by pushing him too hard, many men think "All she does is criticize me". This hurts his ego. His self esteem becomes low. You may mean well, but don't overdo it, as it might send the wrong message. This, I found in the book "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus". Do not give unsolicited advice, even if you think it is good for him.
