Where Did The Word "Mesmerize" Originate

The origin of the term “mesmerize” dates back to Franz Anton Mesmer, an 18th century physician in Vienna who founded a therapeutic movement called mesmerism. He used to believe there is a fluid in human body which reacts to the gravitational field of the body. He used to cure people using this and by manipulating the fluid in the body.
