New Discovery Of An Old Quote

This quote is always in my mind, but I was never able to enunciate it. While I was reading the book "The Stars, My Destination" by Alfred Bester, I came across this, and thought that is exactly how I wanted to say it. The quote is :"Sensation is the root of all evil". Now I want to say, "Greed is the root of all evil".
